My practice explores the connections between the feminine and the natural world, resulting in a series of watercolour paintings and a small book. In my practice I focus on working with painting, drawing and collage. In this project I was interested in creating a body of work exploring the concept of girlhood through my relationship with the women in my family, and how this has shaped my identity. My aim with this project was to confront the tumultuous transformation of growing pains, by using traditional natural imagery in juxtaposition with the techniques applied. This project was also centred around my home county of Northumberland, taking images from my childhood and the landscape to influence my final outcomes.
