My practice explores the way that a rapport can be made between artist and audience with the work used to communicate mood and wellbeing. “Introspect” is an instillation made to create a space that encourages reflection and encourages those that interact to consider their own thoughts and feelings.

This bench is an abstract representation of mood and experience, made from reclaimed wood and mixed metal. The stable base symbolises grounding and stability. The wire composition is inspired by neurons and abstract thought to form a complex, interwoven design. The juxtaposition of construction materials with the metal flower heads explores how nature and man-made environments can serve as sanctuaries.

These clips are from the video that features interviews and footage from my own lived experiences. Interviewees were asked about their happy and safe spaces, methods to enhance well-being, and the impact of the people around them on their mood. The video adds context to the work, bringing the words to life with real-life footage.

The work shows how design can transform environments and create tailored experiences that promote introspection and comfort. The instillation provides a space for reflection, inviting interaction and prompting participants to consider their own thoughts and feelings. The video captures the essence of life in your 20s, highlighting the changes, growth and the universal search for safe spaces and emotional exploration.
